Hello.
I was revisiting the lecture notes and in L2 on page 12, I think the expectation should be cubed. Is this correct? (It might not be important for our purpose but still.)

If you mean the appearance of E_mu[chi_alpha(mu)], no, it should indeed be as it is written there. Why do you think it should be cubed?

I understood where I made the mistake. E_x[chi_alpha(x)]=E_y[chi_beta(y)]=1 for alpha=beta. Right?

E_x[chi_alpha(x)] = 0 for all alpha\neq emptyset, and E_x[chi_emptyset(x)]=1.
However,
E_x,y[chi_alpha(x)chi_beta(y)]=E_x,mu[chi_alpha(x)chi_beta(x.mu)]= E_x,mu[chi_(alpha+beta)(x)chi_beta(mu)] = 0 if alpha\neq beta
and = E_mu(chi_alpha(mu))=E[mu_i]^|alpha| if alpha=beta
